Lucy Till - my life experience, and what I bring to your wedding ceremony
Experience you can feel
A wedding ceremony may last less than an hour. Yet there is a great deal that goes into making it feel effortless.
Years of experience have taught me how to read a room.
How to put people at ease.
How to bring warmth and confidence to an important moment.
And how to remain calm when the unexpected happens.
I understand the rhythm of a wedding day and the importance of working seamlessly alongside your planner, venue and creative team.
My couples can relax, knowing they are in good hands.
A life lived in several countries, with a varied career
I have lived in England, France and America, and briefly in South Korea and Lebanon. I’m happily married with three grown children. We have travelled extensively, and I’ve had a varied career.
Life, I believe, gives us perspective.
And that perspective is at the heart of how I work.
When I sit down with you to hear your story, I understand that every relationship involves families, adventures, challenges, decisions, laughter, memories - all the experiences that have brought you to this point.
From tour operator, to hat maker, to wedding planner, to celebrant - a creative and practical career journey
Before becoming a celebrant, I spent nearly fifteen years working as a wedding planner in the South of France.
Prior to that I was a milliner and had a hat shop rather like the chocolate shop in “Chocolat.” I also worked for Herbert Johnson, classic British hat shop on Bond Street, London.
Before that, I worked for an American tour operator taking specialist groups to Europe and Egypt.
France will always feel like home
My husband and I moved to France in 2002 raising our three children in Provence, working and building a fun life.
Today, I divide my time between Wiltshire, England and the South of France and continue to create ceremonies throughout Provence, the Côte d'Azur and beyond.
I am delighted to travel wherever an exceptional celebration takes me.
Your story is unique. The ceremony that tells it should be too.
A little more about me
I love exploring new places and revisiting old haunts.
I ski whenever I can (and love to conduct ceremonies on ski slopes).
I love going to the beach, and swimming in open water.
Exploring on my bike, and walking for miles with my gorgeous Australian shepherd.
Some of my best ceremony ideas come when I am out in fresh air.
I have recently created a wonderful airy studio where I can sew and be creative. I enjoying a bit of gardening and adore our greenhouse, though recently I seem to spend more time there in winter than in summer – it’s very cosy on a wet day!
I am optimistic by nature.
In experienced and professional hands
I have trained with qualified Celebrancy Organisations including the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, Fellowship of Independent Celebrants and the Academy of Modern Celebrancy.
I believe strongly in continuing to learn and develop my craft.
Experience has also taught me that creating an exceptional ceremony requires curiosity, sensitivity and empathy, confidence, excellent judgement and a genuine love of people.
What I bring to your wedding
A love of beautiful words and meaningful moments.
A story-telling voice.
And the confidence that comes from having spent many years working in the world of exceptional weddings.
I listen for the things you say easily and the things you perhaps don't immediately realise are important.
And after all these years of travelling and working with people from around the world, I remain endlessly interested in what makes us who we are.
Perhaps that is why I still feel so privileged when a couple allows me into their story.
‘‘I highly recommend Lucy to any couple looking for a passionate, professional and understanding celebrant.”
‘‘Thank you again for our absolutely perfect wedding. We could not imagine a more perfect ceremony.’’
